Since the project's first conception, the Toothpick Project has focused on biotechnology for smallholder farmers. Now, 10 years and over 500 field trials and 400 demo plots later, FOXY T14 has been proven to be an effective solution to kill Striga. From the idea of a Navy veteran paired with research by his brother, directed by his niece, with Public:Private Parrtnerships with government, NGOs, Community Based Organizations, and private companies, the Toothpick Project prides itself on close collaboration. A team spanning from Montana to Germany to Kenya allows the Toothpick Project to be a truly global initiative.
